Location: London - Richmond
The UnderWaterChannel is a new broadband TV channel that will become the leading online destination for the diving enthusiast. The company are currently seeking to recruit a Digital Sales Director. The UnderWaterChannel is a start-up with significant investment backing within the industry whose business model is advertising and sponsorship initially.
The Digital Sales Director will work closely with, and report to, the Managing Director. He / she will manage the commercial running of the company on a day to day basis and implement and manage the revenue generation process in order to meet company targets for growth and profitability.
He / she will be a self-starter with flair and initiative who knows how to make and execute sales, taking full responsibility for contacts and the execution necessary to generate budgeted income. The channel has both video advertising and website sales opportunities to maximize, together with myriad opportunities for revenue generation (including sponsorship, product placement etc
Responsibilities:
o Execute the business plan – revenue and costs. Plan, develop and implement the strategy in conjunction with the MD
o Plan and implement sales / revenue generation process ensuring proper reporting and accounting in liaison with 3rd party ad sales for run of network
o Build, lead and manage the ad sales team and sales channels (web, streamed video, product placement, sponsorship etc)
o Pioneer the adoption of advertising on Internet TV and defining industry standards
o Spearhead the sales process with key clients as required
o Maximize the revenue stream from all content output
o Resolve customer service infrastructure problems
o Manage the Web Master and in conjunction with MD, ensure effective smooth running of website and implementation of website functionalities.
o Work in conjunction with Human Resources Management to ensure adherence to authorised personnel policies
o Establish and monitor cost control as agreed with MD and manage banking and accounting (in conjunction with Bookkeeper)
o Work responsibly with the MD in bringing the company to deliver on its commercial forecasts, projections and financial success
o Ensure proper convocation of meetings and correct agenda points for meetings
o Partake in the development of corporate direction, mission and activities, ensuring a respect for ethics, integrity and reputation management
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
o Proven Digital Online Sales Experience essential
o Appropriate third level qualification
o Minimum of 6 years experience in sales ideally experience of digital website advertising sales or broadcast channel.
o Minimum of 3 - 5 years senior sales leadership experience in Online and / or TV advertising sales
o Proven ability in executing the business plan and convert leads, opportunities and contacts into revenue streams.
o Previous responsibility for full P/L – Sales and costs
o Awareness of branding and positioning issues
o Commercial understanding of the technological constraints and challenges inherent in an internet TV channel and website
o Ability to operate in a small team environment – executing detail – but also comfortable with bigger picture
o Experience in building and developing a sales team from scratch
o Driven and determined self-starter, sales and target achiever
o International in outlook, thinking and activity
o Ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a start-up environment
